CLASS SCHEDULE for Pieceful Pastime
11-17-09
Classes
Hmmm…. I know you've been wondering where the updates for this page might be. Well, here they are...in a sense. I have been worrying on this matter for some time now, and I have decided that, at least for the winter, I am going to try to do demonstrations rather than classes. That way, I don't have to worry about the scheduling and re-scheduling. If the weather goes south on us, we just have to wait until the next week, and I will do the demo again. No class fees, no early order books/materials, no worrying about canceling classes. If this doesn't work, I will go back to the more traditional classes, but we'll see what happens before I make that decision. (Oh, and for the gal in Pierce holding the certificate for a free class instruction fee—please call. I will either extend the expiration date for your certificate OR work out another solution.)

So, what can I demonstrate for you? Well, to start with, I learned this WONDERFUL quilt-as-you-go technique while I was at Market in Houston. I came home and gave it a whirl, and sure enough, it was slick and easy! In about 2 hours longer than it would take me to make a crib quilt top, I had the whole quilt done—quilted and bound! Sound too good to be true? I tell you, it works like a dream! I've only had time to make one top so far, but the company has many different patterns that use the method, so I doubt you will run out of ideas! Stop in November or December on Mondays at 10 a.m. or 4 p.m., and I will demonstrate the method. (If neither time works for you, we can always set up something else that works for both of us!) I'm telling you that once you've made one, you will want to do it again!

Now, what else could I show you that will make a quilt quick and fast? The X-Blocks rulers and book ! Make simple nine patches and then use this wonderful ruler in any of 6 sizes to make quilts that LOOK intricate, but really are a breeze! I made a mini for my sample (just because of time), but you can make full-sized, creative quilts using this simple method! The book contains lots of different patterns as well as thoughts on how you can make up your own. I will demonstrate on Mondays in both November and December at 11 a.m. or 4:45 p.m. Just stop down. No need to pre-register or pay any class fees! |

Anything else? Well sure, we'd better plan for January since I never seem to get pages updated! How about Eleanor Burns' Day and Night ?! The quilt looks like a toughie, but it is really quite simple once you know the secret which I will be sharing on Mondays in January at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Almost everyone who has made one has said they will make another because the method is simple, but you get lotsa BLING for your work! |
 |
Are any of you the parents or grandparents of little girls? This pattern will give you all kinds of opportunities to make cute little dresses out of Onesies ! It's quick and easy and will make your little one the Best Dressed girl in the nursery! I will demonstrate the construction on Mondays in January at 11 a.m. |

Those of you who are waiting for Susan's mini quilt of the month should wait no longer. She will begin the new session December 5 at 10 a.m. The first mini is pictured here, and you should be able to complete each month's quilt while you are here! Cost will be $5 for each session you attend (and you know that includes a delicious lunch made by Susan). Kits will be $8 per month, and the hanger that you see in the picture is also available for purchase. The class will keep its current schedule and meet the first Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. If you want the kits but can't fit in the class all the time, just let us know so that we make up enough kits for everyone! |

| Block of the Month . Those of you who have signed on for the Block of the Month can stop down to pick up the kits any time. I am including a picture of the quilt (Kindred Spirits) and ask that you save this picture somewhere so that you have a reference point for your quilt since we probably won't keep it on the wall for a full year. You also need to let me know as soon as possible if you want a finishing kit because I will be cutting those as soon as I can so that I can get the fabric out of my office! |

OK, at least I have a little update for you. Let's get quilting! Lea |
