Pieceful Pastime

10-30-08 Surprise! It's Lea with an updated page! I know you think I had forgotten, but, in fact, I just haven't had time to sit down and write…but today is the day! We've been busy here with fall classes and the annual Halloween Party. If you missed the party, you missed eyeballs and slime on a brick as well as broken bones (manicotti)! Aren't you sorry? Perhaps you had better check on our activities to be certain you don't miss any more of the action. Now it's time to turn our thoughts to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Holiday hours: We will be observing our regular hours of 9:30-5:30 Monday through Friday and 9:30-3:00 Saturdays with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day when we will be closed. And speaking of closing, as much as I hate to think about this statement, make it I will. When the weather is questionable, listen to the local radio stations or call the shop to check if I am in! Remember, I live in Plainview on the OTHER SIDE of Highway 20 and we sometimes have different weather than you guys have in Norfolk, so it is sometimes impossible for me to get here from there if the weather is bad. Call ahead if there is ANY doubt! We have the final Fifth Saturday of 2008 on Saturday, November 29. Bring in your 2008 Shop Hop bag—you know, the clear, vinyl one-- and receive 20% off your purchases that day. (My exceptions: sale fabric, special orders, and BOM's). As always, we close at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays, so don't dally! Shopping. Many of you have mentioned fabrics and gizmos that you would like for Christmas, but remember, I hit the big 5-0 this summer, and I can't remember everything (anything)! Make up a list, put your name on it, bring it down and leave it with me so that we can direct any gift givers to the proper presents. Better yet, send them down with the list so that the hint is a bit more than subtle. And remember, gift certificates are always available. We also have a large number of quilt tops and some completed quilts for sale. Please ask to see them. Any of you who still need some of the pre-cut Calendar tablerunner kits from Susan's class had better get on the stick! We are out of many, and we (Susan) WILL NOT be re-cutting as we have worn out Susan's wrist and patience! June and July are completely gone, and there are only a few of the others left. Prices vary based on the fabric in the kits. A reminder that Northeast College's Chapter of the AAWCC is again hosting their Festival of Trees at the Lifelong Learning Center Friday, November 14 from 2-9 p.m., Saturday, November 15 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 16 from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $5, and it is always a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit! We have tickets available at the shop if you need them! OK, I'm sure I will think of something else the MINUTE I hit the “Send” button, but this is what I know this minute. I must go prepare for the 400 little trick-or-treaters who will converge on the downtown tonight. Take care! Lea
